The Grass Is Greener follows the story of an impoverished English earl who is forced to open his stately home to the public – which results in chaos. His wife falls madly in love with an American millionaire, resulting in a hilarious series of love triangles, trysts and revenge tactics. Complete with a wily butler and an award winning all-star cast, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre is delighted to present this classic feel-good comedy for the autumn.

 

The Grass Is Greener is written by one of Britain’s play-writing teams of the Sixties, Hugh and Margaret Williams. Hugh and Margaret wrote a number of comedies in the 50s and 60s, most notably: Plaintiff in a Pretty Hat, The Flipside, The Irregular Verb to Love and The Grass Is Greener, their most successful play.

The show proved to be a huge hit in London’s West End and went on to be adapted into an award winning movie starring Cary Grant, Deborah Kerr, Robert Mitchum and Jean Simmons.

 

Heading the cast is Liza Goddard whose previous credits include; She Stoops To Conquer (Birmingham Rep), Bergerac, Take Three Women, Yes, Honestly, Take Three Girls, The Brothers, Dr Who and Midsomer Murders. Liza is joined by Christopher Cazenove, credits include The Regiment, The Duchess of Duke Street, Dynasty and Judge John Deed. They are joined by Jack Ellis known for his role as Jim Fenner in Bad Girls and Sophie Ward completes the all-star cast.
