About Moseley Old Hall

Moseley Old Hall is best known for once being a safe haven for a young King Charles II. After the execution of his father, Charles I and an unsuccessful attempt to assume the throne, the young Charles was in danger. He used Moseley Old Hall as a secret hiding place following his defeat at Worcester, the last battle of the Civil War. He finally escaped to France, travelling from safe house to safe house in disguise.

Days Out and Attractions

Known as one of Wolverhampton's most interesting historic buildings and stately homes, there is something for everyone to enjoy at Moseley Old Hall. Visitor's can see the bed where the young King Charles II slept and learn about the history of the house with an exhibition recounting his escape. The grounds at Moseley Old Hall contribute to its reputation as Wolverhampton's leading days out and attractions, recreated in a 17th century style. They include a nut walk and knot garden and Moseley Old Hall has a varied programme of events throughout the year. Moseley Old Hall also offer guided tours, both free flow and conducted.

The Coach House Tea Rooms prepares and serves a range of delicious lunches, homemade cakes and hot and cold drinks.

Sat by the fire on a cold winters day with the slightly eerie silence of the house when its quiet, its easy to imagine you are back in the 17th century. This is a really interesting place to visit.
