13th March 2014

The private view will be held on Thursday the 13th of March from 6pm - 9pm. The public can view the show from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9am â 5pm and it is free to enter.

KALEIDOSCOPE exhibits a collection of the artist's oil paintings, screen prints and drawings, some of which have never been shown before. Mappouridis creates hyper coloured, textile driven narratives often in the form of portraiture.

KALEIDOSCOPE explores intimate moments from the past alongside the immortalisation of time specific traces such as decor, trends and technology. Provoking the work is the recognisable relationship between these traces and the culture of specific decades. The artistâs most recent pieces delve into the sensuality and iconic culture of pin up girls.

Maria Mappouridis was born and brought up in Liverpool. Her family originated in Cyprus but immigrated to England in the 1960s. Mappouridis studied Fine Art: Painting at the University of the Arts London, Camberwell from 2010. Since graduating in July of 2013, Mappouridis moved back to Merseyside where she now makes work out of a group studio on Blundell Street in Liverpools city center.
