Windsor Castle is one of three official residences of The Queen and has been home to the Sovereign for over 900 years.  

It's the largest inhabited castle in the world and the oldest in continuous occupation.

The Queen spends most weekends here, as well as a month at Easter (the Easter Court) and a week in June where she attends Royal Ascot and the ceremony of the Knights of the Garter.

Opening times & admission prices

March to October: Open daily 09:45-17:15, last admission 16:00

November to February: Open daily 09:45-16:15, last admission 15:00

The State Apartments are closed:

5-7 April 2014

9-11 April 2014

15 April 2014

NB when the State Apartments are closed the Semi-State Rooms will not be open.

The Semi-State Rooms

NB the Semi-State Rooms are only open during the Winter months between the 28 September 2013 and March 2014.

St George's Chapel is closed:

19 April 2014 (St George's Chapel opens at 11:00

10 May 2014 (St George’s Chapel closed from 13:00)

6 June 2014 (St George’s Chapel closed from 15:00)

13-14 June 2014 (St George’s Chapel will be closed all day)

11 July 2014 (St George’s Chapel opens at 10:30)

9 August 2014 (St George’s Chapel closed from 13:00)

23 December 2014 (St George's Chapel closed from 13:00)

24 December 2014 (St George's Chapel will be open for worshippers only)

St. George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. Worshippers are welcome to attend the services. These occur at the following times:

08:30 – Holy Communion

10:45 – Matins and Sermon

11:45 – Sung Eucharist

17:15 – Evensong

As a working royal palace, the Castle is used frequently by The Queen for State ceremonies and official entertaining, and closures can occasionally occur at short notice.
