Heathrow Airport Third Runway Plans
11th August 2014
... Comments

As you know, there is a proposal to build a third runway at Heathrow airport on land beyond the current airport's position. This will have both a positive and negative impact on the local area.

Some of the benefits put forward are both local and national:

  • Thousands of new jobs will be created

  • Trade and tourism will prosper

  • Spending in the wider economy will be boosted

  • The UK will gain an increased connectivity internationally and the new runway/bigger airport will help us maintain our position as a leading World Economic Power

BUT how will it affect US, the people living and working near Heathrow?

  • New people will be exposed to aircraft noise as the additional flight paths are extended

  • There are concerns over the extra pressure on our roads and increased traffic volume

Public Consultations September to October 2014

If the Government supports a new runway then Heathrow will provide a compensation scheme for those most affected.

Heathrow Airport is therefore holding 17 consultation days in the area in the form of exhibition events where we can meet the Heathrow team, find out about the proposed third runway plans and provide our opinion and feedback.
