An authentic Greek meal at The Real Greek, Windsor

They say that you should pick a restaurant which is always busy as that indicates it's good. Well, you most certainly should book in advance at The Real Greek on the corner of Thames Street and River Street, Windsor if our experience was anything to go by. We dined at 6.30pm and by 8pm the restaurant was full, both upstairs and downstairs.

And we knew why.

We had just had the most fabulous meal - in fact one of the best we've had in Windsor and we have eaten at quite a few restaurants over the years.

We decided to ask our waiter Gabor what he would recommend and I was happy to go for one of the set meals with pre-chosen dishes (which you could swap with other items if desired). Gabor spent a lot of time with the other tables advising them on dishes to choose - you could see they had passion for their food!

However, Pete, my dining partner (and husband) although indecisive at most things in life is VERY decisive when it comes to food so he wanted to choose from the main menu.

We decided to try dishes we had not had before and to sample the Greek wine instead of our normal Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc.

I am so glad we did as every single thing we had was incredibly tasty, as well as beautifully presented. I honestly could not find a single thing to fault the entire evening and we suspect that this will become a favourite place for us to eat.

Nicholas the Manager of The Real Greek restaurant in Windsor was very welcoming and friendly, and you can see they really care about their customers too. They even created a special birthday table for a group of people with a banner and fresh flowers strewn on the table.

Oh and if you like desserts, I definitely recommend the Greek Filo Custard Pie.

We'll be coming back!

Here is what we ate:

GREEK FLATBREAD & OLIVE OIL & DUKKAH
A twist on an Eastern Mediterranean classic with Dukkah, a spicy mix of ground, dry roasted nuts and seeds

HTIPITI
Real Greek cheese dip with roasted peppers and finished with a touch of chilli
