Speed camera’s deterrent or just a way of local councils making money out of the motorist?
There is no denying that a speed camera in operation will slow you down for those 200 yards either side, however who doesn’t then speed up to catch the time back up? How many of us have braked sharply when we spot a camera at the last minute? Which one of hasn’t tested our luck at driving at 33 or 44mph believing the 10% rule of the GATSO camera? Who believes that it has improved the accident rate or reduced deaths on the road by the percentages that the government has always quoted??
If they were that convinced why are they now withdrawing this source of income all over the UK, Berkshire and Bucks are withdrawing 20 camera’s why??? If they worked, is this just another indication that it was an attack on the motorist? Or have I got this wrong? How many of you have got points on your licence due to speed camera’s?
