America's Independence day

Independence day.

Amazing to think that many years ago this nation of ours ruled the waves and many countries including the USA, it was back in 1776 that America Declared Independence to the Kingdom of Great Britain, at that time there were 13 colonies that were being ruled by King George 3rd. It was a few years before that the colonies began to desire Independence mainly because of the Taxes that they had to pay England, (what country doesn’t have an issue with taxes)this lead to The Battle of Concord and another year on from that the plan for Independence was drawn out and the rest is history as they say.

Although America has gone through civil wars and issues over the years it has also gone on to become one of the most powerful nations in the world. Having visited America for a holiday with my daughter I can say with insight that you are a friendly country and full of some very proud nationals of which other countries would love to have that kind of backing.

So to all Americans I say enjoy your 4th of July however you’re going to celebrate it.

If you want to enjoy a Mediterranean type meal and fantastic surroundings then try Oakley Court which has fantastic seasonal menus with great ambience,

Shame to think though that at one time Great Britain ruled these nations Ireland, Canada, India, Australia, New  Zealand, Hong Kong, Many Caribbean Islands (Grenada), Original Thirteen Colonies, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Egypt
Parts of the Middle East, and what now does the country have?  Could we have continued to rule these countries and had global power? I’m not sure we could have as with lots of power comes responsibilities considering we are having difficulties just with our own little Island’s economy, health, industry (what Industry) how would we have coped if still retained power over these other countries?
