Our Guide to Father’s Day in Wimbledon and Merton - there's no shortage of things to do!

#Just in case you’d forgotten, it’s Father’s Day this Sunday – 15 June 2014. Thankfully, it looks like the sporting calendar, the weather, and the delights of Wimbledon and Merton will collide to ensure your dad has a fantastic day.

Luckily Father’s Day lands on a day of great football – it’s World Cup 2014 after all! Choose between three matches: Switzerland v Ecuador, France v Honduras or Argentina v Bosnia. Why not treat your dad to a pint, a bite to eat and an uninterrupted evening of World Cup viewing pleasure? Our top choice is the sports bar in The Alexandra on Wimbledon Hill Road.

If you’re thinking of taking your dad out to one of our local restaurants, why not forego lunch and opt for brunch instead. Bar 191 in Raynes Park offer a delicious brunch menu with a Spanish twist – perfect for a relaxed sunny, Sunday morning.

As the sun promises to shine on Sunday, it’s the ideal opportunity to get outdoors with the family and explore Wimbledon. Spend quality time with your dad on a visit to Morden Hall Park. A former deer park, this National Trust estate is a rural idyll in the midst of London; enjoy a picnic by the River Wandle or keep a keen eye out for kingfishers as you explore the wetlands.

With so much to do in the Wimbledon and Merton area… indoors and outdoors, bars, pubs and restaurants, parks and commons, theatre and cinema… there isn’t any shortage of treats to show the first most important man in your life that you really do care an awful lot about him.
