Hello and Welcome to The Best Of Weymouth and Portland Blog - I'm Julie Wilson and I run thebestof across the borough which I have been doing now for nearly 3 years.
The Best Of Weymouth and Portland is part of a national network across the UK and soon to be international. We promote local recommended businesses to local people and visitors to the area. Many people know us for our website as we came 3rd last year in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100, however we are much more than that! We promote our business members at every opportunity both online and offline.
We also detail local events for schools, charities and hospitals as well as for our member businesses.
I am Dorset born and bred - went to Weymouth College originally to train as a Nursery Nurse. My grandparents used to own a guest house in Lennox Street and my Dad was in an army band and a devoted fan of Weymouth Football Club. He's sadly no longer with us but would be very proud to know that we are now sponsors with the Club and work closely with his favourite side. It was only earlier this year that I went to my first live game as a VIP of the Club (so my first experience was in style!) It was a great day and Weymouth won which broke the spell of a losing streak they had been having, so I think my Dad was watching!
