Hosting the sailing events of the London 2012 Games has opened the door of opportunity for Dorset. Team Dorset and a wide range of partners have been working together to deliver a sustainable and significant legacy to the whole region using the Games as a catalyst and driver for change. '12 for 2012' was a 12 point plan developed by the Dorset Strategic Partnership to use as a 2012 inspired framework for the delivery of legacy objectives. You may have seen the 12 for 2012 plan on literature and media alike however in November it was remixed and repackaged into a new format.

The Dorset 2012 Legacy Board has refined the ‘12 for 2012' objectives under 5 broad headings; one for each of the Olympic rings. The 5 legacy objectives are:

  • Community and wellbeing
  • Economy and infrastructure.
  • Education and skills
  • Environment and sustainability
  • Sports and culture

Although ‘12 for 2012' has been refined the drive, passion and enthusiasm from all associated partners of Team Dorset is still the same. All legacy objectives and aspirations of the ‘12 for 2012' plan have been incorporated into the new 5 legacy objectives, which are more concise and clear for partners working towards their delivery.
