People in North Yorkshire will be able to vote for the country's first ever Police and Crime Commissioner on Thursday, November 15th.
Voters will be able to choose between Labour's Ruth Potter and the Conservatives' Julia Mulligan. The new role will see whoever is elected manage police budgets, set priorities and given the power to hire and fire Chief Constables.

People in Wetherby are being encouraged to vote due to the town having a population of over 11,000 people; it could have a great bearing on the outcome of this election.
North Yorkshire's PCC candidates are being urged to target rural crime, around 40% of farmers in this country have been victims of crime in the past 12 months according to the National Farmer's Union.
Both candidates for the PCC post in North Yorkshire said they recognised the need to provide adequate rural crime protection.
