Abby Dayton of Creating Harmony has written an interesting article on the Chinese New Year and Feng Shui:-
"The date of Chinese New Year changes each year as it is determined by the Lunar Calendar and falls on the date of the second new moon after the Winter Solstice. This year will be the Year of the Tiger. Planetary radiation affects each animal sign differently and this is why Chinese Astrology is used to predict what type of year each animal will have.
In Feng Shui a consultant can tell many things from a birth date and as well as giving the animal a person is represented by, it gives their trigram, energy, element and direction. All of these are important contributory factors in carrying out an in-depth consultation to ensure a property attracts good health, finances, relationships and a harmonious atmosphere.
Feng Shui can enhance an existing relationship
or encourage a new one
The translation of Feng Shui is wind and water. When water evaporates it creates an energy, this energy is called Chi, wind simply blows Chi away, moving it from one place to another. Much like acupuncture this energy needs to flow.
The five principles:-
- TAI CHI – The theory of Yin and Yang (positive and negative power)
- 5 ELEMENTS (5 ENERGIES) – The interaction of the destructive and creative energies.
- PA QUA – The 8 directions of universal energy.
- I CHING – The 64 directions of universal energy.
- LOK SHI – The influence and effect of the 9 stars (planets) upon the earth.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, Feng Shui is not just about facing furniture in the right direction, nor is it about putting your toilet seat down! It is an ancient art built on sound scientific principles supported by modern physics and the understanding of energy.
