LET YOUR BONFIRE NIGHT PARTY GO OFF WITH A BANG (but not literally!).

Bonfire Night is a great time for a party. So here are some of our suggestions to help you host. Don’t forget to check out our safety tips below!

Party Food. It may be winter but Bonfire Night can be a good excuse for a BBQ. Darren Symes Butchers in Brownhills provides some fantastic quality meats and pies, so check out their great offers. Or try, W T Hill & Son, located near the Arboretum for excellent produce and more great offers.  Even if it rains you can cook inside!

Hats, Gloves & Scarves. Everybody loves hand knitted hats, gloves and scarves- well why not be the envy of your friends this bonfire night and knit your own. Clemmy’s Wool Shop and Helen’s Haberdashery can provide you with all the wool you need. So don’t leave it to the Grannies and get knitting now!

STAY SAFE

Having a party can be great fun, but please make sure you remember it for all the right reasons. Fireworks and bonfires are spectacular but can also be dangerous so here are some things to consider:

1) Always supervise children around fireworks and bonfires
2) Be careful if drinking alcohol around bonfires and fireworks- never drink if you are going to be setting off fireworks
3) Make sure that any fireworks are bought from a reputable shop and conform to British Safety Standards BS 7114
4) Follow the instructions given on fireworks
5) Stand well back from fireworks
6) Never go near a firework that has been lit- even if it has not yet gone off
7) Never pick up or throw fireworks or place them on your person
8) Keep all pets indoors
9) Be careful with sparklers- do not give to young children and only light one at a time
