The Wakefield Festival of Food, Drink and Rhubarb is one of the first major events in the UK’s foodie calendar. It celebrates the traditional links with rhubarb growing in Wakefield, while offering the finest and tastiest regional produce and showcasing the most talented local chefs.
Wakefield’s famous rhubarb has joined the hallowed ranks of Europe’s protected foods. Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb has been elevated to the same status as Champagne and Parma Ham.
The event, organised by Wakefield Council, takes place on 24, 25 and 26 February 2012 (extended by an extra day this year due to popular demand). The festival will include street entertainment, cookery demonstrations, children’s activities, walks, tours, and a Deliciously Yorkshire market.
Updated information will be posted here nearer the time. Alternatively visit the official tourism website, www.experiencewakefield.co.uk.
Most activities take place indoors and all our marquees have proper floors and are heated so whatever the weather come along and join in the fun!
