Truro CC travelled to Werrington CC last Saturday in a top of the table clash, and came our victorious winning by 18 runs. This leaves Truro CC 10 points clear at the top of the Jolly Drinks Cornwall Premier League.

If Truro CC claim 10 points from a possible 20 on offer against already relegated Newquay CC, then Truro CC will be crowned Champions for the first time since 2002.

The match on Sat was a close encounter with Truro getting off to a solid start of 39, before Alex Smeeth, Werrington's County Allrounder claimed his 1st of six wickets he achieved. Truro slumped to 76 for 7, but rallied with some late runs to achieve a under par total of 125.

At 50 for no wicket after 10 overs, the Werrington team and supporters must of been very confident in securing the win and putting themselves favourites to win the title. Kyle Van Rooyen, Truro's leading wicket taker this Year had other ideas and he matched Smeeth's 6 wicket haul with skipper Tom Sharp, bowling extremely tight and securing 3 victims himself, Truro in the end won comfortably, demonstrating again, that their bowling has been the backbone to the success.

The team would welcome any support shown by the Truro public next Saturday, with stumps pitched from 1pm.

Hopefully the celebrations will run into the annual end of year 'Stars in their Eyes' bash, and again all are welcome to hopefully join in the celebrations at the bar.
