How do you celebrate Easter?

That’s if you do at all, I’ve heard of meals out, family get together, Easter egg hunts, shopping and lots more.

Lots of people think of it as the start of all them DIY jobs around the house and garden.

Easter to me means, a celebration of resurrection.

I no longer attend church and miss it some times, my husband and I have different family traditions and customs and I’ve noted that Christian holidays mean a lot less to him than me.

I’ve always loved Easter and not for the chocolate eggs, to me it’s a new beginning, and a time for a fresh start. I spend my time thinking about the meaning of Easter, of Jesus and in a small way celebrate his resurrection.

I don’t push my feelings on to anyone else and so Easter has change for me over the years due to whom I’m with. When young I would go to church with my Nan, has a young wife and mother I would cook a wonderful meal on Easter Sunday and do Easter egg hunts for the children, while my husband worked, and now I fit in with what my husband wants to do, but I have kept some of our family traditions like………

On Good Friday I will have hot cross buns, (and only then) I will think of the meaning behind them as I prepare them and then eat them.

I will be giving eggs out to the grandchildren.

It would be nice to have some quite time to just think ( I don’t think any of us really stop and just think these days) we are having a family party on Sunday for our birthday girl (granddaughter) cant see it being very peaceful with us all there.

Has I no longer attend church I do when they are on enjoy watching films of how Jesus was crucified and raised from the dead, I once watched a film with someone who turned to me at the end and said “ that was good, they told it as if it was a true story”. Mmmmmm.

So this Easter if you are at church, or on an Easter egg hunt, at a DIY shop, with your family or friends, on your own, over the Easter weekend, make it your own, enjoy for what it is, real life as is the Easter story.
