I picked the Welbeck on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Douglas and found it very good with helpful friendly staff and excellent meals. The single room rates were reasonable for the Hotel's standards.

Service at the Welbeck was outstanding. We were a party of four staying in three rooms. All the rooms were very large and had seating areas for five to six people. We did not encounter one problem, even when we had to change a lunch for 10 at noon to a lunch for 11 at one.

Try it and you'll always return.

We only stopped in for a drink but I was impressed with the no smoking policy. If you hate sitting in smoggy pubs...the bar at the Welbeck is a better alternative.

Best Manx lamb I have ever tasted. The Welbeck really works hard to provide an excellent menu using great local produce. Sometimes restaurants in Hotels can be disappointing but not this one.
