The Commonwealth Games Association of the Isle of Man - Charities

Supporting Isle of Man charities

The Commonwealth Games Association of the Isle of Man is a charity responsible for the publicity, fundraising and support of Team Isle of Man at each Commonwealth Games. This also involves the accreditation of athletes and officials.

Athletes need access to professional coaching, sports science testing, physiotherapy, sports psychologists, medical checks, treatment and nutritional advice.

The Commonwealth Games Association of the Isle of Man works closely with all the participating sporting bodies on the Isle of Man to ensure that the athletes get the best preparation and funding possible.

THE WORK THEY DO:

Games Preparation Programme

This initiative, in conjunction with the Isle of Man Institute of Sport, has proved a great success with our young athletes. It was trailed with young athletes for the 2008

Youth Games in Pune, India. All the athletes have access to the Institute doctor, a strength and conditioning coach and a physiotherapist. They can also attend workshops on topics such as nutrition, anti-doping, team building and training for success.

The Commonwealth Games Association charity also helps athletes gain experience at high class competitions off Island in the four years leading up to each of the Commonwealth Games.
