A very short walk from the Isle of Man Electric Railway Station at Laxey used by the Snaefell Mountain Railway, you will find a converted miner’s cottage on Ham and Egg Terrace, known as Brown’s Restaurant and Gallery. The restaurant is in a prominent position and has a patio area and plenty of free parking.
Laxey, a beautiful village on the east coast of the Isle of Man boasts many attractions including the Heritage trail which leads from the world’s largest operating water wheel ‘Lady Isabella’ to the beach, a hand-weaving mill, Laxey Glen Gardens and the Great Laxey Mines Railway.
The restaurant has been modernised and re-opened under the management of Tracey Dorn, an experienced and skilled restaurateur with over 20 years catering expertise. Tracey promises to put the 102 year old café / restaurant and art gallery back on the Isle of Man map by providing top quality, cooked to order food at competitive prices.
During the day you can enjoy a wide variety of traditional home-cooked snacks, meals and light bites in the fully licensed café which include home made steak pies, soups, salads, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, cakes, teas, coffees etc. along with an extensive children’s menu.
In the evening, the café converts to a full waitress service restaurant where locally produced, traditional Isle of Man specialities like Queenies, kippers, Trout and Manx steaks can be enjoyed. A comprehensive wine list, children’s menu, vegetarian options and a variety of mouth-watering desserts are also available.
All food is prepared to order and made from the finest locally produced ingredients.
The cosy and friendly ambiance of the newly re-decorated restaurant are further enhanced with a display of oil paintings, watercolours and ceramics produced by Manx artists who display their work at Ballajora Art Gallery, further down the tram tracks near Ramsey.
