Centre 21, a recreational facility for people with disabilities on the Island, will be holding an ‘Isle of Pamper’ day on 28 January 2012.  For just one day, participating beauty salons, hairdressers, nail bars and spas will donate 50% of their profits to Centre 21.  Raffle tickets will also be sold at salons in the run-up to the day, with great prizes including dinner for two at Portofino and cookery classes with a professional chef.

Euphoria Beautique, Skin Solutions Salon, Heavenly Beauty, Hot Gossip, Salon Rouge, MountMurray and Health and Harmony have all signed up to the scheme so far with more and more joining each day.

Wendy Campbell of Image Matters helped to develop the initiative: “With so many beauty salons on the Island, the idea of an Island-wide pamper day seemed perfect to help out this worthwhile cause.  As a beauty professional, I understand the potential of the industry and have the contacts to make it happen.  We’re so pleased with the salons that have signed up so far and hope to see many more joining before 28 January.”

Centre 21 is made up of five local charities; Manx Mencap, Manx Gateway Club, Isle of Man Special Olympics, Autism in Mann and Downs Syndrome Isle of Man.  Completed in 2007, the Centre is a venue for computer skills, drama and arts sessions, along with sporting and social activities for people with disabilities.

Geoff Karran of Centre 21 added: “We are very grateful to Wendy and all of the local businesses for getting together to contribute to our cause.  Having such support means that we can continue to carry out the essential work that we do everyday to help people with disabilities live a fulfilling life.  We look forward to the day and hope it is a big success.”

The ‘Isle of Pamper’ Day’s fundraising target is £10,000, which will make a huge difference to the Centre.  Although a high target, it is entirely achievable with the support of the whole community.  To get involved simply book an appointment at one of the registered salons on ‘Isle of Pamper’ Day.  Interested salons can contact Wendy Campbell on 436948 orwakeuptomakeup@hotmail.co.uk .  For more information, find us on Twitter @IsleofPamper and Facebook Isle of Pamper.

We enjoy getting out and about and meeting people and feel very much part of the local community of the Isle of Man. The people warm and friendly and the pace of life is more laid back than across - it suits us just fine!
