Cuts in funding for Higher Education on the cards?

Just read on the local BBC news website that the Manx Government is considering increasing the minimum requirement for funding of higher education from 2 grade D 'A' Levels to 2 Grade 'C's as well as tightening measures on Higher Education grants to cut costs.  Read the full story here  

Surely this is overdue? No one wants to see people disadvantaged and not given educational opportunities but a minimum of two grade Cs does not seem unreasonable for the rigors of the world of academia.   It seems a shame that it has taken the current financial crisis before the Government takes a long hard look at where the money goes..
