Hall Caine Memorial Prize for Creative Writing
Write a short story, opening chapter of a novel, excerpt from a memoir, one act play etc on the subject of “Hope”.
This can be set in the present, past or future and can be humorous or serious.
Judges will be looking for strong characterisation, good narrative flow and, most importantly of all, imaginative story-telling.
Primary
Write up to 500 words. Prizes of £100, £75 and £50 will be awarded for the winning entrants.
Key Stage 3
Write up to 1500 words. Prizes of £150, £100 and £50 will be awarded for the winning entrants.
Key Stage 4
Write up to 1500 words. Prizes of £150, £100 and £50 will be awarded for the winning entrants.
Key Stage 5/IOM College
Write up to 2000 words. Prizes of £200, £150 and £100 will be awarded for the winning entrants.
In addition in each category there will be up to ten £20 cash prizes for those whose work is highly commended.
