Can we some top tips on taking care of delicate items?

Talk to your removals firm – inform them that some of your boxes will contain fragile items and will need extra care

Use packaging materials that keep items safe from bumps and shocks – paper and bubble wrap provides good cushioning.  Each piece should be wrapped in at least two layers of bubble wrap and wrapped tightly for added protection.  Packing peanuts are great for filling gaps in boxes.  Clothing and tea-towels can also be used to wrap up breakable items.  Don’t be liberal with packing tape.

Choose the Right Boxes – try to avoid using old boxes as they may have become weak in past moves and won’t offer the same protection.  Lay bubble wrapped items on top of each other in a shallow box, the less space above them, the less chance they have of moving around.  Pad the sides and bottom of your boxes before placing anything inside.

Label Clearly – Label all fragile boxes clearly with “fragile, handle with care”.

Finally - don’t leave your packing to the last minute, start weeks in advance to ensure a steady, hassle free move. Good luck!!!!
