IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT - TAKE ACTION!

The benefits of making a personal injury claim are many. The most obvious benefit is that you will receive money to compensate you for the injuries you have suffered. This type of compensation is called General Damages. In addition to this, you can also be reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses you have incurred as a result of the accident. This type of compensation is called Special Damages.

Special Damages can include monies you have already paid out, for example reimbursment of prescription charges or petrol expenses and items you have already purchased that have been damaged or ruined as a reuslt of the accident. A large part of special damages may be loss of earnings which can include loss of holiday pay and lost bonus payments. You may also be able to recover money in respect of care you have received from friends and family notwithstanding the fact that you may not have actually paid for this assistance. The list of expenses is extensive, many things can be claimed such as the cost of having to cancel an event or being unable to use a subscription as a result of the accident.

More serious injuries will often attract awards for future losses. These may compensate you for a fixed period, up until retirement or for life. The kinds of losses that may be included are claims for future care, future loss of earnings, future adaptations and appliances or maybe, future mobility costs. Your solicitor will calculate these losses with reference to actuarial tables. These losses can often run into thousands of pounds.

You may be in need for rehabiliation to assist in your recovery, resulting in you being back on your feet more quickly and back to work sooner. The Defendants insurers have a duty to consider funding the costs of any treatment that you require, this can include anything from physiotherapy to major operations. The knock on effect is the burden on your employer is eased and there is less of a strain placed on the NHS.

If you are unsure whether or not to make a personal injury claim you must remember that it was not your fault and that you deserve to be compensation and so take action!!!!
