The Plough Inn in Shifnal, Telford is a traditional, welcoming pub specialising in a wide selection of real ale; excellent home cooked pub food and live music. The Plough Inn is part of Arty Bars Ltd, and the Lounge is decorated with art by local artists, which changes each month.

Lana and Pete own and run The Plough Inn in Shifnal - an Inn of historical and architectural interest and Grade II listed. They moved into what was formerly Darceys restaurant in Shifnal in mid December 2011, and have since reinstated the name The Plough Inn Shifnal as well as completely refurbishing the pub and opening up the exterior area at the rear of the property to create lovely new 'in' and 'outside' areas.

Customers love the transformation and word around Shifnal is that this is a welcoming, family run business that sells quality real ale and serves good pub food in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Lana and Pete are rightly proud to have re-established The Plough Inn as a traditional community pub and are delighted that many of their customers have followed them from their previous pub. The Plough Inn specialises in Real Ales, home cooked pub food and live music. Uniquely, the Lounge area displays an ever changing selection of work by local artists - student, amateur and professional artists are encouraged to exhibit their work at the pub, giving them a unique opportunity to exhibit their art in an alternative space to a formal gallery, such as the pub. Lana, herself an acclaimed artist, also seeks to establish relationships with art institutions in order that students could meet at the pub with a view to selling their work and placing The Plough Inn on the map as a meeting place for any artists.

At the Bar

The Plough Inn is recognised as a leading venue for real cask ales and cider, and specialises in offering a wide and varied selection of real ales having 8 on at any time and 30 or more in stock waiting to go on due to the high demand. The Plough also runs the 'CAMRA Discount Scheme' which offers a 10p discount on a pint for any CAMRA members. In the demise of the pub industry, it's wonderful to see a traditional pub opening rather than closing and the Shifnal locals are sure to be celebrating their great traditional British pub.

In addition to real ale and cider, The Plough offers a selection of single malt whisky alongside the traditional selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Pub Food

The Plough serve quality, traditional home made pub food every day, and has recently achieved a 5 star rating for our kitchen and food safety / hygiene inspection. The Plough has a reputation for providing 'great food at great prices', serving a selection of home cooked meals at an affordable price, including their popular 'meal deals' such as '2 mains for £10'. Expect generous portions of delicious traditional pub food - you can choose from the main menu or the specials board which is changed regularly. Whether you are eating or not, The Plough also offers a full traditional Espresso coffee menu made from coffee ground from bean to the cup using traditional Barista methods.

Live Music

Every Thursday is 'open mic nite' at The Plough - with a simple philosophy to provide a platform for musicians of all genres and ages to perform in a welcoming and supportive environment, and also to open up networking links with musicians, recording studios, the music industry and other venues which may lead to musicians gaining work opportunities elsewhere or 'getting noticed'. A recent music host at The Plough got through to the semi finals of last years UK OpenMic Competition. To enhance this, they have a dedicated Facebook page called 'musicians networking platform' where musicians and venues can communicate.

The Plough has a stage and all the equipment needed for live performances, so musicians can just turn up plug in and play. The Plough have also introduced a new folk / acoustic live openmic night for the 3rd Monday in the month from 7pm. Look out for more details.

Arty Bars

The Plough is part of ArtyBars Ltd, which was born from a long ambition to be able to exhibit and sell art on behalf of local and visiting artists of all types, in a relaxing, informal environment. It is also about taking art to people who might never visit a 'formal' gallery. Lana and Pete have a huge commitment to supporting art of all genres - student, amateur and professional artists are encouraged to exhibit their work at the pub. Lana also seeks to establish relationships with art institutions in order that students could meet at the pub with a view to selling their work and placing The Plough Inn on the map as a meeting place for any artists. Different artists hold exhibitions in the pub every month, proving extremely popular with artists and customers alike, and providing art for everyone. Lana is the artist in residence at The Plough, and you'll find her art exhibited throughout the pub. The Plough Inn is open every day from 12 noon until 11pm (midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday).

The Plough Inn has been part of Shifnal for hundreds of years (believed to be 500 years old from local word of mouth) - under Lana and Pete, it is once more run as a traditional Inn with a tremendous community spirit and a welcoming, friendly atmosphere.
