The Old Fighting Cocks is a traditional real ale pub offering a friendly atmosphere, good company and traditional values, with a 'Bring Your Own Food' dining room and its own 32 seat Cinema.
If you long for the days when you could get a decent pint of real ale, and enjoy it in friendly pub atmosphere without the distractions of TV's, slot machines, pool tables or a jukebox, then The Old Fighting Cocks in Oakengates is a 'must visit' pub.
The Old Fighting Cocks is the first pub opened by Ironbridge Brewery and is a showcase for Ironbridge Ales. David Goldingay, The Old Fighting Cock's licensee and Director of Ironbridge Brewery teamed up with Everards Brewery to turn what was a struggling business into a thriving real ale house. This offers customers a full range of products, including, from the Ironbridge Brewery, a range of cask beers such as Foundry Gold, Steam and the award winning Ironbridge Pale Ale - Winner of the Shropshire Brewers Challenge Trophy 2009-2010.
Featured in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2012, The Old Fighting Cocks offers real choice of real beer in a traditional pub setting, and there's 7 real ales on offer every single day. Combining exceptionally good beer with a friendly atmosphere, and good company, but without the noise and distraction of televisions, jukeboxes, slot machines, pool tables and the like; The Old Fighting Cocks is the place to go when you fancy a decent pint in the company of like-minded people.
Food
The Old Fighting Cocks offers a range of delicious Peter's Pies to enjoy with your pint - but unusually, they also encourage you to 'bring your own food' or have a takeaway delivered and use their dining room. Better still, it's completely free of charge and they even provide the cutlery, so you've no washing-up to deal with afterwards. What better way to enjoy an evening out - order a takeaway and have it delivered to the pub whilst you enjoy your pint. Why would you need to go anywhere else?
Cinema
The Old Fighting Cocks is more than just a traditional pub following the transformation of its unused function room into a cosy 1960's style traditional cinema. The 32 seat cinema features tiered seating, a 5 metre digital screen with full HD digital projection (with Dolby Surround Sound) offering the best, 'close-up' viewing of some of the latest films. There are even cinema ushers, offering customers their favourite pub snacks and a pint during the interlude - and little tables alongside the seating for your drinks. David decided that having never made use of the pub's seperate function room, he liked the idea of incorporating a cinema into the pub and offering the latest films every Saturday night, so customers can enjoy a film in a relaxing atmosphere with a pint of their favourite ale. You must pay a visit - it's definitely not just a TV in a Pub!
The cinema is also encouraging children's party bookings on a Friday and Saturday afternoon, offering a film of their choice for viewing.
The Telford Film Society will also hold a members only evening at the cinema every Wednesday, showing black and white classics and a monthly World Cinema evening is also planned.
Opening Times
The Old Fighting Cocks is open:

Every Saturday night is film night - call the number opposite to check out what film is being shown.
In summary, there are so many reasons to visit The Old Fighting Cocks - a traditional real ale pub with a friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy a pie and a pint; a free to use dining room where you can 'bring your own' food or have a takeaway delivered; and the traditional cinema showing some of the latest films every Saturday night. Good nights out don't come much better than this!
