I was a very enthusiastic mountain biker 15 years ago and my ʼM2 stumpjumperʼ had served me well in all that time from the thick clagging clay of english quarrys to the sand, slate and rocks of the Atlas mountains. So the old bike needed some TLC and whilst I always maintained my stumpy myself as it was my pride and joy (and THE bike to have at the time) three kids later and I havenʼt got time to maintain myself let alone old stumpy. I cycled Stumpy down to the bycicle hub and it was put into intesive care by Peter. It was a long and lonely walk home. I got a call about a week later and Peter went through all the things which needed to be done and the options open to me. It is clear that Peter is sensitive to costs and knows that we arenʼt all on Rooneyʼs wages so he gave me the various cost options and explained the proʼs and cons of everything. He had even saved half a pint of dirty water out of my ʼJudyʼ forks which is why they might not have been working so well recently. The finished job was just fantastic. I know that the old stumpy isnʼt full suspension and doesnʼt have all the lates gizmos on it but let me tell you that it is still one of the most responsive MBʼs Iʼve fallen off! It lacks the lustre of itʼs youth but donʼt we all. All I know is that regardless of the bumps and scratches Peter has returened old stumpy to the agile and fantastic performance MB that it was when I first bough it 15 years ago for £1,500. If he could only do the same for me!!

I have visited the Bicycle Hub a number of times while using Route 45 an the way to Ironbridge. Let me say i have never seen such a happy bunch of people. Their zest for biking and overall attiude towards bikers is unsurpassable. As well as offering a good service there is a broad range of bikes for all ages, plus specialised lightweight models for youngsters and tandems for the adventurous. So, donʼt sit at home on Sunday, GET ON YOUR BIKE to BICYCLE HUB!

Met Peter & the crew for the first time last weekend and I must say having visited many of the top bike shops in and around the country this has got to be one of the top 5!

Nothing like what you might think the place would be, open plan workshop, a place to watch your bike being worked on, hiring available around the Ironbridge Gorge.

Anyone wanting a great experience, friendly people to talk to about bikes and no pressure to buy - what a place.

We will be back soon

I was wary of my first visit to a bike shop, but I was welcomed with a cup of tea and had a really good chat with Peter Bird and the rest of the staff. Iʼve been back, spent a lot of money (which I was happy to do) on occasion and also just for a visit.

What Peter doesnʼt know about bikes isnʼt worth knowing. He is a true professional, with the expected eccentricities of anyone so passionate about something they love!

I will continue to visit The Bicycle Hub for many years and will encourage anyone to go there. Service is quick, professional and I get perfect peace-of-mind entrusting Peter with my bike (and my money!). Prices are quite excellent and the experience as a whole is something worthy of writing a review for!

If ever you want a new bike, to service an old bike or just to meet some fellow cyclists (and mountain bikers), visit The Bicycle Hub. Even the cycle approach paths are a great experience :)

The Bicycle Hub is so much more than a hire shop. You can:- talk bikes(in depth, or less so) with their incredibly friendly staff; get knowledgeable advice; buy bikes or hire bikes; get your bike serviced; get help with internet purchases; buy spares & accessories; explore tandems to any level you wish. Oh! and get a cup of tea. All this in the very interesting setting of an Ironbridge Gorge Museum site, inventively combining heritage buildings with museum displays & modern tile making, and new buildings with arts & crafts galleries. It’s well worth a visit even if you are not particularly interested in bikes.
