The award winning Shifnal Balti is a stylish, fully licensed, quality restaurant serving traditional Indian and Bangladeshi recipes with a fresh modern twist. Run by three brothers (Faz is the brother you'll see most often) who pride themselves on professionalism, hard work and close team work, you can expect great service from this friendly and efficient team whenever you visit Shifnal Balti.
Awarded the top 5* rating by the Shropshire Star, the guys at Shifnal Balti are rightly proud of the excellent reputation they have built up over many years in Shifnal and around the Telford / Shropshire area. Their focus on quality has seen them featured in the renowned Pat Chapman's "The Good Curry Guide" every year between 2002 and 2010, but not resting on their laurels, the brothers at Shifnal Balti constantly seek out new ideas and recipes. This drive to improve their menu and customer offer extends to an annual visit to the Bangladesh region to look for new ideas and inspiration that they can bring to their customers.
Their extensive and inspirational menu includes all of the traditional favourites - Balti, Tandoori, Curry, etc., but you'll also find a wide variety of 'signature dishes' and 'chef's specials' reflecting the unique and innovative approach the brothers apply to their menu. One of their most distiguished patrons offers their own personal recommendation - "Peate's Lamb Jamdhani" - but be warned, you need to give 72 hours notice if you want to try this dish - they marinade a whole leg of lamb for at least 28 hours ahead of the cooking process. How good does that sound?
On addition to the excellent and stylish restaurant, the Shifnal Balti offers an extensive Take Away menu full of similar mouth-watering recipes and unique dishes. And of course, whether you choose to eat in the restaurant or take-away, there's a wide choice of side dishes, accompaniments, bread, desserts and drinks, to make sure your feast is complete in every sense.
They also cater splendidly for Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Parties and any other Special Occasions - just contact the restaurant for more details. But you don't need to wait for a special occasion to provide an excuse to visit the Shifnal Balti.

I live in Newport and I believe this is the best Indian Restaurant for miles around if not light years. The modern decor combined with traditional Indian cuisine has the makings for the perfect night, when you add to this the friendly hospitality and superb service, not to mention the excellent value, you can understand why with four Indian restaurants within walking distance I choose to drive and experience the best.
I love Shifnal Balti, can't fault the food at all and have been going for years, do miss the days of the cloth hanging from the ceiling and the fish tanks in the middle of the restaurant though!

Great atmosphere, very comfortable to sit and eat. We were a large group and so had lots of dishes to choose from - and they brought more to accommodate our wish for a spicier curry. Very nice staff. PS - nice touch - roses for the ladies!
