Our Irish setter had had a confusing start to life with several owners before the age of 10 months. He seemed unable to understand or carry out the simplest commands. When out walking I had to take him to places where we would be unlikely to meet other dogs as he would not return and some owners became (justifiably) irate; one man even hit him with a stick! Further, at the end of a walk, he would refuse to be caught and only after some extended, exhausting and embarrassing 'chase me' games could we get him on the lead again. At my wits end, I contacted Mort. I answered the door to a friendly, knowledgeable, non-judgemental man who in one session sorted out most of our problems. We had a further session which was the most fun I have had in ages - running around the park being chased by a setter trailing a 15metre leash!! Mort explained what the dog was thinking and why he was behaving the way he was and provided strategies to cure problems. Thank you Mort for saving my sanity :-)

We had our Dog Monty for a few weeks from a rescue centre as he was a stray. Monty had a few issues with "marking" in the house, recall and food agression. Within one session and a phone call from Mort, Monty is like a new dog, he is so much happier, as we learnt to understand Monty and why he was acting the way he was and what we needed to help Monty.

We learnt such a lot in such a short space of time, things which are so easy to build into daily life and become second nature.

I would recommend Mort to all dog owners new and old as i think there is always something to learn to help your dog.

Thanks Mort.

I employed Mort to assist me to train a Dogue de Bordeax that I had rescued. They can be difficult but the training has been very positive. Mort introduced myself and the dog (a bitch called Gizzy) to his 'recall' method which I stuck to ridgedly and it has proved so successful that it may have saved Gizzy's life. When she chased after a cat towards a main road, I was able to call her back to me first time. The change in Gizzy since I first saw you is unbelievable. I was doubtful of my ability to control her, but I really wanted to help her after her horrible start in life. You have made that possible and I really am so thankful to you.

I need to say a big thank you to Mort for sorting out my german shepherd - 'Sasha', after just 2 sessions of whistle training to get her to come back to me she is brilliant. I thought it would be nearly impossible to get her to come back especially when she's out with my other dog and copies everything he does, but as soon as the whistle goes, she's back by my side. I'm over the moon.

I was at the end of my tether with my German Shepphard Ozzie when I read mort's testimonials and thought l would give him a go. The results after just one session with Mort were astounding. We still have a way to go - Ozzie is still frightened of cars but doesn't pull on the lead anymore, so walking him now is a pleasure. I can highly recommend Mort, as he himself states he doesn't have all the answers but will work around the problem and find a different angle to come from to try to find a solution that works for both you and your dog.

We adopted Molly, a border collie x springer spaniel, from a rescue centre. She was then 3 and a half and did not even have the basics such as sit and stay. We took her basic training as far as we could but found we could not manage to get her to walk properly on a lead, pass other dogs without her wanting to ‘go for them’ or re-call reliably. She was not sufficiently well mannered to attend regular dog training classes, so the last resort for us was going to be residential, Dog Borstal type training. Fortunately before we got as far as arranging this we happened to find Mort Smith’s Web Site and gave him a call. Mort has been a godsend. He teaches you to be able to train your dog in a very natural way that the dog can understand and respond to. The training is fun both for you and your dog. There is absolutely no harshness involved whatsoever. After just 3 sessions Molly can walk nicely on her lead and pass other dogs, so enabling us to go to public places without fear or embarrassment. We are currently working on her recall and she is responding very well. So to anyone in a similar desperate situation I would advise you not to waste money on expensive dog training manuals or instruction DVDs etc but give Mort a call. His rates are very reasonable and he really does deliver.

Mort Smith was the best dog trainer l have used. I have used one before and l have to admit that by comparison he was superb. He offered great value for money and the results were outstanding, after just one session with myself and my German Sheppherd Ozzie the results were outstanding. Oz still doesnt like cars but some days are better than others. If there is a solution out there to help you and your dog Mort will find it, if not he will look outside the box to find something that works for both of you. Top guy!!!!

With just 1 session, our puppy (sunny) is now, at last, a welcome member of our family. "Sit, down, heel, stay" all sound easy words to understand, but we were at our wits end with our young dog.But no more!! Mind you, half the battle was with the way we behaved around sunny which was part of the 3 1/2 hour lesson.

Ceasar the dog whisperer has nothing on Mort!!
Cheers

I have very recently had the good fortune of hiring Mort Smith to help train both myself and my young German Shepherd, his methods and patience and understanding are immeasurable with both myself and my dog. After his first visit I was more in tune to what my dog needed and expected and saw an improvement straight away, this coupled with a follow up visit to brush up on a few other matters I can only describe as a first rate service that I would recommend to anybody. Mort Smith's fees are very good - you certainly get your moneys worth.... so I can very strongly recommend Mort for all your dog training needs. Please people, don't get caught out - other trainers can charge you more and don't get the excellent results that Mort Smith gets. With all his years of police dog training you will get the best results and have a dog to be proud of. The professionalism and courtesy of this service are second to none and long may his business grow and flourish.
