As someone who has given many presentations over the course of my business career it was absolutely fantastic to get some real clarity and direction from Paul Brennan on how I could take my skills in this area to the next level. Having used Paul to deliver project management courses very successfully in the past, I approached him to consider a new project to create a one day development package for the board of a local not for profit organisation who sought our assistance to improve their effectiveness as a board of directors. Paul was able to use his own very relevant experience as a non-executive director of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development to aid in the design and delivery of an excellent one day programme that was extremely well received by the client. Paul was one of the trainers selected to deliver business skills training to the childcare sector, as part of a national contract with the Sure Start Unit of the DfES. The programme, âBusiness Success for Childcareâ, involved over 2,000 workshops to over 32,000 delegates from June 2003 to June 2005. He very quickly mastered the diverse subject material and consistently delivered all of his workshops to a very high standard, receiving excellent feedback from the childcare team and delegates attending. Significantly, Paul contributed much to the development of our programme with his feedback and ideas, willingly sharing ideas and experiences with the other trainers in the programme to their benefit. Additionally, working with another trainer, he designed and delivered two workshops to train local authority support staff in coaching child minders in basic business skills. My lifelong ambition to become an infantry officer in the army took a blow when I was advised at a pre-selection board that my presentation skills were woefully inadequate. However, after just a few hours working with Paul, he had given me the confidence I needed to apply the skills that he had taught me. Not only did I pass the selection test but I have now graduated from the Royal Military College Sandhurst and will soon be joining my regiment. I met Paul after he responded to a request for bids to provide project management training for Bromsgrove Council.
