And the Chamber is set to continue its partnership with the long-running event during 2024.

Online registration for this year’s Royal Sutton Fun Run,  taking place on Sunday, 2 June, opens tomorrow (Saturday 3 February) from 12 noon.

A link will be published on the Fun Run website, with those wishing to participate being encouraged not to delay in registering, as places are limited to 5,500.

Entrants can also register in-person in the Gracechurch Shopping Centre, Bishops Court opposite WH Smith from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Payment for entry fees will now be accepted cashless.

Naeem Arif, Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce president said: “The Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce is delighted to be officially associated with the town’s largest and longest running annual community fundraising event.

“The Fun Run has been an integral part of life in Royal Sutton Coldfield for over 40 years and we were thrilled to be involved in supporting the 40th staging of the event in June 2023.

“Members of the Chamber recognise they have a social responsibility towards the community where they trade and the Fun Run also provides us with an ideal vehicle to raise money for our chosen charity.

“We’ll be announcing our new charity partner in the spring and any money raised through participation in this year’s event will help kick-start our fundraising for that organisation.”

Fun Run director, James Pike said: “Last year marked an historic double milestone for the Fun Run - the 40th event and breaking £5 million distributed to charities and voluntary groups since the first event in 1982.

“There is little doubt our partnership with the Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce provided us with the ideal instrument to directly engage with the business community across the royal town.

“With the demise of the local weekly newspapers network not only in Sutton but across Lichfield, Walsall, and other surrounding areas, we needed to identify alternative opportunities to raise awareness of the event and in particular the key registration period between February and April.

“We’re delighted the Chamber has confirmed its continued support in 2024, which will allow us to directly communicate the Fun Run’s core values and goals with local businesses across the royal town and drive participant numbers up towards and hopefully beyond five thousand.

“As a direct consequence, the amount of money raised and distributed to charities and voluntary groups - many of whom operate within the royal town - will inevitably increase.”
