After the success of last year’s event in its new location of Guisborough, we simply had to return there for another year. The fairly challenging route proved a remarkable hit with walkers of all ages and abilities (whether regulars or first time participants), the weather was fantastic and the views truly breathtaking.
The event is open to anyone and everyone, from babies in prams and wheelchair users to those who like either a nice stroll or a more challenging stride out.
The 10-mile route will start and finish at Guisborough Forest and Walkway Visitor Centre at Pinchinthorpe. Here you will be able to see the wooden walker, carved by Steve Iredale, a renowned chainsaw sculptor from Staithes. As walkers enjoyed the route during the 2010 event, Steve was busy turning a 12ft x 6ft tree stump into a work of art!
The Wheels Friendly Little Loop, with some small hills and slightly rough ground, is for those with pushchairs, wheelchairs or simply legs that cannot manage the whole 10 miles - the two-mile route will offer a truly rural experience.
The Walk is a great social occasion where you can enjoy the fresh air, stop for picnics along the way and enjoy the planned entertainment at the start and finish including children’s entertainment, climbing wall and a superb farmers’ market.
Entry into the event includes a quality limited edition event t-shirt, which you can wear on the day if you wish, souvenir medal and finisher’s pack. There will be ample free parking available.
