Shop Sudbury Pledge.

Rachel Price and I, kicked off our #ShopSummaryPledge on Saturday. This was convenient because it was Sudbury’s Town Market day; the perfect opportunity to pick up some local goodies and essentials to get me through the week.

First stop was Rafi's. Three curries for Saturday night, a bag of lentils and some other bits. Cox's Boxes had already delivered my vegetables direct to my door earlier in the week and I had some chicken pieces in the freezer.

I took advantage of some of the stalls on the market by treating myself to a couple of East Anglian ales from the Anglian Beer Company – perfect accompaniment for my home made curry. There's no excuse for not supporting local butchers in Sudbury either. Jamie's Meat Inn has great value meat packs. You can either pick up in store or buy online and have delivered, or John Coleman has a stall at the market.

A shopping trip to Sudbury isn't complete without a trip to Weston's. Their bread is delivered to me with my Cox's Box, but shopping is hard work. So I popped in for a smackerel of something. They have an amazing selection of cakes too. You can take a look here

If you're looking for kids' presents, as Rachel was,  Mandy's Jewellery and Gifts on Station Road has some great crafting kits to keep kids entertained. Her one-to-one jewelry making classes are back. Click here for more information.

Duck in Boots on Gaol Lane, is an emporium of local crafter's goods and loveliness created by local artisans. There are literally hundreds of different crafters, and their ever-changing Duck Pods are the perfect incubator for small businesses. Pop by to see what's in store, or click here for forthcoming events.

This month, I'm pledging to keep things as local as possible and I’m asking you to do the same. A few small changes can make such a difference to our local economy.

Here are some of the things I’m doing:

  • My milk is delivered by Byham's Dairies
  • Meat I get from Jamie's or A Leeder Butcher in Boxford
  • Vegetables and fruit & bread I get delivered from Cox's Brother
  • My cleaning products and laundry detergent, I shall be using Health Foods For You’s refill service
  • Shampoo and conditioner, I can also get from Health Foods For YOu.

I'm always on the lookout for great shops & businesses I can help, support or work with in the future. If you know one, let me know here.

Likewise, if you've got a great recipe using seasonal vegetables or a menu idea, tell me here.

I look forward to hearing from you. And why don't you pledge to buy local by clicking here?
