Though the paving stones look as if they have weathered over time, they are not stone, but imitation concrete. "They're the best you can get" says Anne Fowler. "A brilliant local chap took moulds from eight Bath flagstones years ago and he's been casting them ever since from those first moulds, which is why the texture and shape is so good"
