The Royal Shakespeare Company - keeping audiences in touch with William Shakespeare.

The Royal Shakespeare Company has a year-round programme of theatre productions, Shakespeare plays and shows by Shakespeare's contemporaries, international dramatists and modern day writers.

As one of the world's best known theatres, the Royal Shakespeare Company stages repertoire theatre productions and provides an expert training environment for its actors, directors and theatre artists.

An ensemble theatre company

With over 700 people currently employed in producing, running and supporting the theatre productions, the RSC is proud to be an ensemble theatre company.

This means that everyone from the actors and writers to the administrative and technical staff collaborates in the RSC's distinctive approach to theatre.

Since 1879, the Royal Shakespeare Company has been bringing arts, entertainment and Shakespeare plays to audiences in Stratford-upon-Avon and all over the world.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's theatres in Stratford, London and Newcastle-upon-Tyne

The RSC has three venues in Stratford-upon-Avon: The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, The Swan Theatre and The Courtyard Theatre.

The main theatre and The Swan Theatre are currently being transformed - with the aim of creating the best modern playhouse for Shakespeare in the world.

While work to the main theatre is taking place, the RSC has moved into The Courtyard Theatre, a purpose built theatre in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon.

The Royal Shakespeare Company also performs Shakespeare plays and other theatre productions in London and Newcastle-upon-Tyne and its actors and entertainers are seen regularly on UK and overseas tours and residencies.
