I try not to use our blog to complain and moan, but today I am going to make an exception!
We live in a beautiful part of a beautiful country, but I can't help feeling that more and more people treat the streets, countryside, hedgerows etc as a bin.
Drive or walk down any street,road or lane and just look at the mess people leave behind - yes I know some of it blows out of bins, but not the amount around now. In our village the locals regularly gather and clean up the mess, but a day later and it is just as bad. Its not just litter (paper,bottles,cans etc), but dog mess and fly tipping. What is wrong with these people? Have they no pride in either themselves or where they live?
Educate or punish? Well I have stopped people and asked them to pick up their rubbish and they did, but I know that the next time they will do the same again. I would like to see local authorities impose hefty fines on these obnoxious,inconsiderate individuals, perhaps then they will hesitate to continue their slovenly habits.
