Stockport Council have purchased the Grand Central Leisure Complex.

The council have taken out a £15 million mortgage on the site, which is fantastic news for Stockport and the local people.

Grand Central is within walking distance of the main rail and bus links and sits next to the main thoroughfare between Stockport and Manchester, the A6.

It will not only create hundreds of local jobs with the construction, but provide much needed revenue from rental income for Stockport Council to use on services throughout the district.

This is a very positive move made by the council, for the continued growth and success of Stockport as a whole.

With possible plans to build offices and a hotel, it should bring an increase in tourism to the area, aswell as new businesses and even more jobs.

A picture for the proposed plans can be seen above.
