History
The Shimla Palace Restaurant is located in Cromwell House, a grade 2 listed building in Stafford.
Previously, a 16th Century farm dwelling and hostelry, Cromwell House was known as The Roebuck Inn - a popular staging post for weary travellers and merchants - including Oliver Cromwell himself.
On the introduction of rail and other transport links, The Roebuck Inn continued to cater for travellers but years later saw it move to a farmhouse kitchen serving local farm workers.
As business grew, The Roebuck Inn later became Shimla Palace.
