Edible Ornamentals? Garden centres and nurseries? The connection?
Well, Edible Ornamentals is unique in the world of garden centres and nurseries because we specialise in chilli plants (we grow over 40 varieties) and vegetables. Indeed, we run the one of the largest chilli farms in the UK, right here in Chawston, near St Neots. Our farm shop has lots of local produce and our market garden is abundant with delicious, fresh vegetables.
Edible Ornamentals is St Neots' first 'Pick Your Own Vegetable' centre, where you can pick a wide range of the freshest of seasonal vegetables straight from the plant. These include fresh peppers, spinach, Swiss chard, lettuce, cabbage, dwarf French beans, tomatoes, sweet corn and an unusual variety of long aubergines.
Joanna and Shawn Plumb founded Edible Ornamentals in 2001. "We're passionate, slightly obsessive chilli growers," they say." On our chilli farm we raise fresh chillies, stunning chilli plants and mouth watering fiery sauces.
Our ethos is simple: we grow and cook chillies with skill and passion - and our fresh-grown chillies make the most scrumptious sauces and chutneys."
Joanna makes numerous radio and television appearances - you may have heard her on Radio 2's Chris Evans Show, Radio 4's You and Yours and see her on TV's Ready Steady Cook, Working Lunch and Economy Gastronomy. She also broadcasts regularly on BBC Three Counties radio. All because she runs a successful specialist farm and farm shop in Chawston near St Neots!
