The history
The family business has passed through the generations since 1839.  We have operated as a funeral director in Hatfield for over 164 years, and our premises in Knebworth and Welwyn Garden City are now joined by a branch in St Albans.

The family
The initials J J have applied to each generation of the Burgess family.  The current proprietor Justin James Burgess,  represents the fifth generation of the family as a funeral director.  He also sits on the executive committee of the Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors.

Whilst introducing new Innovations, we still maintain the traditional standards and values the company prides itself in.

The staff
Our staff at J  Burgess & Sons, family funeral directors, have over 100 years of experience in the funeral profession between them.  All undertake appropriate training programmes to ensure we offer the highest level of professional service.

Support Services
 We offer a Family Careline service, staffed by lawyers and nurses who provide  telephone assistance 24 hours a day.  Our website also contains a range of helpful information regarding funeral arrangements.

Funeral Options
Our St Albans branch provides a complete funeral service with a wide range of options regarding funeral arrangements.  Vehicles, for instance,  include classic cars to motorcycles.  We can also provide a range off memorials.  We will ensure that your ideas, needs and circumstances are met. 

Pre-paid Plans
We offer an independent pre-paid scheme from Golden Charter, together with a Funeral Plan from Help the Aged.  These options ensure that your family is not burdened with funeral costs, or the worry of the funeral arrangements.
