The Virtuosi GUS Band was formed in Kettering as The Munn & Felton Works Band in January 1933 by Fred Felton. Within two years, they were champions of Great Britain. Over the years, they have played under the names Munn & Felton, GUS (Footwear), The GUS Band, Rigid Containers Group Band and Travelsphere Holidays Band. The band reverted to the current name about six years ago when Virtuosi Instruments, a Northampton company, provided financial support. For more than 80 years this famous Kettering band has been one of the very best brass bands in the country, winning many competitions. Their most recent victory coming when they were crowned Midlands Champions in March 2014 for the 23rd time in their history. The band continues to delight concert audiences up and down the country and is delighted to be hosting a concert in St Albans on Saturday 1st November 2014.
