Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park - Your park of the week
Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park will be celebrating 75 years on July 18. The Friends of the Park and Southwark are commemorating the anniversary with events in the park specifically for children, such as Punch and Judy, face painting, a Tibetan snow lion, farm animals, sports and many other events. The park surrounds the Imperial War Museum and is home to the Tibetan Peace Garden with its sculptures by Hamish Horsley and the Soviet War Memorial. It has sports facility, recently opened, a children's playground and a café. There is the Ice Age Tree Trail, a small woodland copse with woodland plants, a family fruit orchard with all manner of fruit trees and a walled garden with diverse plants from around the world, from alpine to desert. Come and visit any day but especially on July 18 and enjoy all the attractions those permanent and those especially for the day.
