I am my own worst critic and found driving one of the most stressful things in the world ever, i canʼt remember how many times it has made me cry. But i passed!! Jean Balch had the patience to help me gain the confidence needed to drive. She creates a very secure and relaxing environment which is key to learning and learning quickly. I honestly do not believe i would have continued learning to drive was it not for Jean, if your thinking about lessons then she is the lady for you and my god please be safe in my car hes a robot and too lovely for you to break

Iʼve been learing to drive on and off now for a couple of years. I changed from one driving instructor to Jean from the recommendation of my cousin (who passed first time with Jean). Since having lessons with Jean, my skills have improved immensely, and two weeks ago I passed my driving test first time with only 2 minors. These are the sort of skills Jean gives you when learning to drive with her. I enjoyed every lesson I had, learnt loads and had a laugh too. Jean is fantastic to learn to drive with, and I have recommended people in the past to learn with her. She really does prepare you for your test well and gives you the skills to be a fantastic driver once you do pass. Thanks Jean, your a star :)

When I first started to learn how to drive I was pretty apprehensive about the whole idea. I hadn’t ever really wanted to learn but it got to the point where it was simply something I needed to do.

I found out about Jean’s driving school through a friend of mine who had passed first time with Jean as his instructor. He told me that Jean just lets you get on with it, doesn’t grab the steering wheel at the first sign of trouble and lets you figure things out for your self. It sounded good to me, as I didn’t want to be in a car with someone who was even more nervous than me so I arranged some lessons with Jean; something that, in itself, was very easy to do.

Once I got into the lessons, everything that my friend had told me about Jean’s teaching style was spot on. You are given lots of freedom in what you do but you know that if things go wrong then Jean will help you out, but not necessarily by yanking the steering wheel. From the first lesson you are the driver. Her calm and relaxed teaching method makes you feel at home (in a car) and it is good to know that should something go wrong or you don’t quite pull off a manoeuvre perfectly (or even far from it) you’re not going to get balled at like you’re the naughty kid in the class. Jean will simply discuss with you where things went wrong, asking you for your point of view, what you saw and why you did what you did. After that she’ll advise (not tell) you how to improve for the next time and the lesson carries on.

Jean is fantastic at making you feel comfortable, takes a real interest in you as a person and as such the lessons are enjoyable, no matter what standard you are at.

Apart from Jean’s teaching style, I would say the best thing about lessons with her is that she prepares you to drive, not just simply scrape through your test. When encountering different situations on the road she will explain how different road users with different levels of experience would react to the same situation so that you are able to see one situation from different points of view.

So all in all I would strongly recommend Jean’s driving school to you whether you are raring to get driving or have left it for a while for whatever reason.

It’s a shame that one day you have to pass your test.
