Leigh on Sea resident celebrates 90th birthday milestone

Leigh on Sea resident, Gladys Hill has been celebrating her 90th Birthday today with friends at South Essex Homes sheltered scheme, Adams Elm.

Gladys, the second oldest resident at the sheltered scheme, marked the special occasion with a fish and ship supper she supplied for her friends. She was presented with a marvellous Birthday cake and presents to celebrate the birthday milestone.

A mother of three and grandmother of 20, said; " The secret to reaching 90 is good living,  I make sure I don't go without and look after myself, I still do the shopping and cooking- But also it is friendship and having as many friends as I do around you. I have lived here for 25 years and am very happy - we have a wonderful Sheltered Housing Officer, Wendy, who I could not do without".

The Birthday girl delivered a tearful speech to her friends who then sang her Happy Birthday and gave her three cheers for luck, and wished her many more birthdays to come.
