JAMES DUDDRIDGE CONTINUES THE FIGHT FOR DRIVING TEST CENTRE IN SOUTHEND

James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has received a response from Mike Penning MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Transport regarding a driving test centre in Southend.

James launched a campaign to include Southend onto an existing pilot scheme which is taking place around the country which sees Driving Test Centres operating out of alternative venues within the community.

James wrote to the Minister and the Chief Executive of the Driving Standards Agency requesting that Southend be added to the pilot scheme.

James has received a letter from the Minister in which he has offered a visit to Southend in the New Year to discuss the trial extension which will see Southend included within the scheme.

James said “I was furious when the previous site closed and I actively campaigned to prevent closure.  Unfortunately I was unsuccessful and as we all know, the site closed.  I am passionate about securing Southend a test centre and I will be arranging a meeting with the Minister in Southend as soon into the New Year as possible so we can get continue to campaign and get Southend the test centre it needs and wants.”
