The Much Improved Pizza Express Solihull Touchwood

Following the launch of the exciting new looking Pizza Express in Solihull Touchwood we decided to go down and see if the food and service matched up to the new looking interior.

The interior is open and spacious with plenty of room for both small and large parties with jazz art adourning the walls . The central focus is the kitchen which allows you to see your food being prepared and the fresh ingredients being used so theres no where to hide for the chefs if anything goes wrong.

We were seated by Jed the duty manager polite courteous and given menus straight away. The menus were extensive with a range of dishes fom Itallian classics ,salads, healthy options and an excellent range of pizzas and the ability to personalise them as well.

Despite being half full with some large tables with the restaurant gradually filling during the evening the service was excellent through out.

Our waitress Mary took our drink order and gave us an introduction to some of the new dishes on the menu. I was torn between the Romana Etna pizza or the pollo forzo but went with the Etna after being advised it was the spicier one of the two. My wife went for the healthier option of the Leggera pizza range at only 500 calories, excellent if your watching those calories and you want a lighter option (not for me).

She chose the Leggara Padana with goats cheese, caramalised onions, spinach, red onion and tomato. The pizza has a whole in the centre filled with a fresh salad finished with a light house dressing . To start she opted for The new dough balls fermarggi whilst I tried their new Melanzanine (layers of aubergine ,mozzerella and passata with basil .

The starters arrived very quickly and were excellent and I was even allowed to steal one of my wifes  dough balls to mop up the lovely passata in my dish.

After a short wait  our pizzas arrived , the Etna was as Mary had advised very spicy with hot fiery spicy sausage and a lovely thin crispy base. I was really pleased with my choice and the cold Perroni with which to wash it down.

Anns choice was also well recieved and  looked delicious. The caramalised onion was beautifully sweet combining beautifully with the goats cheese and the crisp salad in the centre.

Following a difficult decision as whether or not to have a desert we decided we would as they sounded so nice plus with the option of their selection of lighter desserts and a coffee we didnt feel so bad.

So after all the deliberating and some advice from our waitress I chose the Honeycomb cream slice which wasn't the low calorie option funnilly enough whilst Ann chose the Leggera tartufo limoncello which was under 250 calories.

Well both deserts were extremelly nice but Anns limoncello bomb won the award from us . A mixture of icecream , meringue with a limoncello centre.

Will we be going back again ? Yes we certainly will. Would we recommend Pizza Express ? Yes i certainly would , we had a fantastic evening the food was excellent , and the service was outstanding .

Whether your looking for a light lunch or a full on meal theirs a great selection to choose from and range of calorie options We were told they have regular menu changes as well to keep the selection fresh .

Looking forward to our next visit :)
