DMR Services provides care and support for young people in care aged between 11 and 18 in residential children's care homes in Birmingham and Staffordshire. For the past two years they have held a Summer Games event for all their young people, staff, families, friends and guests at Old Yardleians Rugby Club , Tilehouse Lane, Shirley Solihull. The event is always a huge success and offers these disadvantaged young people the chance to come together and participate in a school sports day type event. This year they plan to make the games an even bigger and better event, and wish to include and involve the community as much as possible. The Mayor of Solihull will once again be attending and will officially open the event and be on hand to present medals to the young people. SUNRISE CARE for Senior Citizens will also be attending with several residents coming along to enjoy the day. There will be entertainment for all age groups with music, dance, fairground stalls, games, food and refreshments. They also have a DALEK and TARDIS from DR WHO and DARTH VADER and STORM TROOPERS from STAR WARS on site for that unique photo opportunity. The event also raises funds for locally based charity ACEF which is based at AKAMBA garden center in Shirley. This charity raises funds for a school for orphans in the slums of Nairobi in Kenya and DMR are pleased to support them through the SUMMER GAMES. So please come along on Wednesday August 6th between 11am and 17.00, entry is free and bring along families.
