Up to 50 stalls are expected at a Shropshire Handmade and Vintage Summer Fair to be held at the headquarters of Shrewsbury-based caravan and motorhome dealership, Salop Leisure, on June 20-21.
The summer event follows the success of a Christmas fair held at Salop Leisure last November, which attracted 2,000 people on each of the two days
The stallholders, who are mostly from Shropshire with a few from Staffordshire and Wales, will be selling a wide range of handmade and vintage gifts. There will also be a craft workshop by Abs Craft Lab, Telford on June 20 and a pottery workshop by Splat N Splodge, Shrewsbury on June 21.
Carrie Hughes, owner of Shropshire Handmade and Vintage, said: “Following the success of the Christmas fair, which has set a high standard, it has not been too difficult selling stalls for this event. People have been asking to come and will be selling their summer ranges.
“It’s an amazing venue due to the showroom space and the footfall is very good. It’s a nice venue for the stallholders and it’s not weather dependent – Mother Nature can send what she likes.”
After organising her first handmade and vintage fair for charity in 2012, Carrie now holds eight events a year in Shropshire. “The events are based in Shropshire and designed to support county crafts businesses,” she added.
Tony Bywater, Salop Leisure’s chairman, said the company was delighted to host the summer fair, which would hopefully attract many new customers to the sales centre.
“We were very pleased with the attendance at the Christmas fair and hope the summer event will be equally as popular,” he added. “I think it’s an excellent example of Shropshire-based companies working together to boost business.”
Love Plants, a specialist plants centre based at Salop Leisure, is organising a garden trail to coincide with the summer fair.
