Daniel Kawczynski, MP for Shrewsbury & Atcham has welcomed the announcement from the Prime Minister and the Chancellor that there will be £36 billion invested in more than 200 infrastructure projects this year.

This investment will particularly benefit Shrewsbury with pinch point schemes on the A49 and improvements to Emstrey Island on the A5, helping to create the jobs that provide people with stability and security.

Commenting, Daniel said:

“Backing small business and enterprise with better infrastructure is part of this Government’s long-term economic plan to build a stronger, more competitive British economy. I am very pleased this has lead to a significant investment in Shrewsbury, as I have long made the case to the Chancellor for much needed infrastructure spending in the town.

By taking difficult decisions to control spending elsewhere, the Government has been able to make these investments – creating jobs and making it easier for businesses to move goods around the country.

Each job that a business in Shrewsbury means another family has the security and peace of mind that comes from a regular pay packet.”
